El d\u00eda 28 de enero de 1783, el Arzobispo Caballero y G\u00f3ngora, firm\u00f3 el Decreto de erecci\u00f3n de la parroquia del Santo Eccehomo de C\u00e1cota y Surat\u00e1, su primer p\u00e1rroco fue el Dr. Ignacio Nicol\u00e1s de Buitrago y Salazar, a quien siguieron ilustres y benem\u00e9ritos sacerdotes que cultivaron y afianzaron la fe de cuantos con sus sudores regaron aquellos campos fertil\u00edsimos que deleitan la vista con el oro de sus trigales.<\/p>\n
